About / Bio
I was born December 5th in the year 1979, in California. I lived and grew up in State College Pennsylvania, till college. My childhood in Pennsylvania was spent outdoors, exploring, playing and imagining. As a child I used art as an escape, as a way to spend time alone and space with my imagination. Today I still use art as alone time as a means of coping with reality, self-discovery, expression and personal identity. At age eighteen I began attending The Cleveland Institute of Art were I earned my bachelors degree in enameling in 2003. Then a year later attended The Rhode Island School of Design, earning a Masters of Fine Art in the field of jewelry.
Although seemingly concentrated in the craft field; fine art, as in drawing and painting were my first loves. As a sophomore in Cleveland I started learning about the craft world, and other mediums. I soon fell in love with enamel, not only the processes and materialistic qualities, but also the openness and feeling of possibilities within the field. What I mean by this is that unlike the world of painting (which I loved), the field felt more open to new possibility and less stifled by history, and what I felt as “pressure” to uphold a long tradition. Not to mention the excitement of the (new to me) 3D, jewelry, and utilitarian objects. I soon began to create objects, jewelry and pieces for the wall, using enamel and metal, but still incorporating drawing and painting techniques that I knew and loved. This web site contains mostly work from my Masters Thesis, and a few post school pieces. Eventually I hope to add and change what pieces are posted within, as my work grows and changes. And eventually I hope to add a link to a line of jewelry that is more in the wearable limited addition vein. Today I live, work, and play in New York City. Please keep posted as I hope this is the beginning of tons of new work to come!
